Hal Crompton

Hal joined the RAF from school and spent the next 24 years as a telecommunications technician.

During this time he caught the bug and became a controller/announcer on Radio Gan, in the Maldive Islands.

He later contributed to BFBS radio in Cyprus. After leaving the RAF, Hal spent his spare time working as a sound & lighting engineer in his local theatre, working with artistes such as Kip Withers, Siobhan Fahey, Paul Jones, Paul Daniels, Jools Holland and Keanu Reeves.

During recent years he has spent his spare time organising charity events from quiz nights to complete rock festivals.

Pushing 50 from a long way away on the wrong side, he is happily married to Cath and has two sons, one of whom is in the Army and the other a corporate solicitor in Hong Kong. He will usually be found elbow-deep in the station equipment, wielding a screwdriver, a soldering iron and a roll of insulating tape while the presenters carry on regardless around him.
