Alan Ritson

Alan's association with Lincoln City Radio began with him having the privilege to present the first show on the initial day that LCR began broadcasting on 4th May 2010.

Since that time he has presented daytime shows and a programme exclusively dedicated to the world of folk music “Fine Folk”.

For many years Alan has had the good fortune to meet up with artists in the world of pop and rock music including the vast majority of current folk music performers and have staged numerous events at Lincoln Drill Hall, The Theatre Royal and even Lincoln Castle where an audience in excess of 1000 people watched performances by the Kate Rusby Band, LAU and Faustus.

For the past 40 years, Andy Watkins has staged folk concerts at numerous local venues including currently, The Unision Club in Lincoln and Faldingworth Village Hall to which Alan has been invited as compere for a number of those events which also creates a further opportunity to record artist interviews.

His ownership of The Old Bakery restaurant with rooms in Lincoln has enabled him to provide meals and accommodation  for the vast majority of musicians performing in Lincoln and created additional opportunities to record interviews following dinner at that establishment or breakfast the following day.

Alan also presents a monthly two hour show called ‘Siren Folk’  on a sister Community Radio Station during which local and nationally known musicians are invited to perform live in the studio.  Those sessions are recorded for repeat transmission and captured for further broadcast on LCR Fine Folk by kind permission.

Recently the English Folk Dance and Song Society have agreed to archive those interviews which currently number in excess of 400 can be accessed by a worldwide audience and will be retained for posterity for years to come by new generations of folk audiences.

Alan looks forward to many more years of broadcasting the latest news and concert details from the world of folk and of course featuring new releases, firm favourites and live performances from the finest musicians.
